    My, my it's indeed been a long time. I just wanted to write really quickly that I am not for one dead - in fact I'm quite the contrary.

    The thought of this blog resurfaced into my college brainwashed mind and I think I'm on the verge of deciding as to whether it is worth continuing. All matters aside, Boston is an amazing place to live in and I've a lot to update on!

    Something really quick, again.

    I'm guessing for all the readers on this very deserted blog, they would know about my other fashion blog which is Lucid Couture (link on the link bar at the bottom left). I really do love my fashion blog, as much as anyone could like it - cos I do have a certain heartfelt connection with fashion and whatnot.

    So anyway, I've been on Youtube wasting my time recently and there are a lot of tutorials and how to do this and that regarding make-up and style so I decided that with the amount of time I have; to create a channel.

    It's here if you want to take a look at it. Still in progress but still a channel nonetheless! One of my videos... so do check them out if and when you have time! Criticise all you want! Rate, comment and subscribe though : D

    || 12:06 AM

    Quick entry but I'm going to make one anyway because I feel like it's of some sort of weirdly personal importance.

    I know there are a lot of haters out there and I'm not hater-police or anything out with a vengeance; but I don't get how some people can just be so overly negative. I was recently just going through my tag box/chat box comments and I remembered all the old comments about my looks or giving extremely rude suggestions and whatnot... I mean, I'm personally not attached to those comments because I for one (for lack for better and more eloquent words) know who I am, what I represent and who I can trust, etc.

    So... maybe for people who aren't as strong-willed or succumb to criticism more easily will feel personally attacked or offended but I would like to know; what effect do people who leave hater comments want to achieve?!? Do they think I will stop blogging? Do they think I'm going to go get plastic surgery or blur my face in shame and stop taking pictures? I don't know but whatever, for the most part; it leaves me pretty unaffected.

    I'm all for constructive criticism or useful criticisms in all its forms but something like :
    "OMG, you're going to make my eyes burn!! I'm blind!!!!"

    just isn't extremely useful you know? Like what do you expect me to do with something like that? Actually it just makes me laugh, perhaps I should go over to your house, burn your eyes some more while I'm there and bandage them up for you.

    Whatever in the end, it doesn't affect me and I am still baffled by what people try to get out of something like this. I'll keep on doing what I want to keep on doing and that's that I suppose. So i know that hate comments will always exist, specially in today's Internet-savvy world and because of the amount of time people have to leave comments such as that show the diminution of society but well, who I am to judge right? After all I'm just an ugly girl who burns your eyeballs out : ) or wait, o.O

    The internet makes people feel powerful. Hiding behind that screen miles away, you know you'll never have to actually face the person in real-life. Well I don't have to face you either so bring it on!

    Sometimes, I wish I were a little more insightful. Don't get me wrong, I'm a very observant person, to the point where if you ask me what the stranger who just passed was wearing; I could describe it to you in great detail.

    But observant is definitely not the equivalent of insight.

    Photobucket

    Some people have this uncanny ability to be able to describe and depict things to the core of what they're worth. Maybe I can do that, but half the time; I still feel like I'm just scratching on the surface. It's weird really, sometimes I think that I'm insightful and maybe a little too astute but then; I realise that some other person has just hit the bullseye on some other sociological observation.

    I think it's because I actually physically THINK too much. I try too hard. Yeah, for once I actually try. But I definitely 'try' to be insightful sometimes and in the end; you forego what you're really after, the insight.
    Most people I know who are extremely and frighteningly insightful are simple. They don't overthink, they go with the flow. Maybe a little bit of a slacker. Perhaps I should adopt that way of life, traipsing through everyday like there's no tomorrow...

    Or maybe I'm just not cut out for sociology.

    Oh my goodness. I'm SO totally going through an identity crisis or something...
    This is so strange, why I'm even thinking about it.
    Maybe I'm not and I'm just being the personality equivalent of a hypochondriac.

    10.08.2009 || 11:04 AM

    I'm going to be moving house soon... it's sort of a melancholy feeling this time because for one we're moving to a bigger place with an awesome view. I get my own balcony and my room sounds extremely promising (pictures when it's done). But then, I'm leaving my best friend behind (now, we live in the same condo) and the cozy proximity of my current neighbourhood.

    PhotobucketPhotobucket

    One thing I don't like about moving is packing! It's such a chore and having to sift through old things that have accumulated in your room over the years is just much more tiring than one expects. I feel like I can become such a pack rat that it's going to be hard to let some of this old sentimental junk go. Maybe I'll have a garage sale!
    Then there's the issue of actually unpacking the stuff when it gets there... oh what a chore, what a chore...

    Photobucket

    Right now, the new house is undergoing renovation so it's a complete mess but everything looks pretty promising! I think it should all be done by the end of the month and that's when we're also moving out from our current apartment. The worst thing is, I'll only be there for two months before I myself have to move to go to Boston.

    Photobucket

    To new beginnings I guess... I'm pretty excited to see the whole outcome of the move - and eventually the outcome of my big move to the States. I'm nervous! It's really far away...

    10.07.2009 || 9:00 PM

    Even though I haven't been busy or anything, it seems like I find a thousand and one reasons to just not update... which really is shame on my part.

    But here comes a long-awaited update anyway. I'm no party girl by anyone's standards but recently; it seems that I've been having more nights out than even I expected...
    A weakness of mine is never being able to document a night out properly! Some people manage to have amazing pictures of a night out (as amazing as they can be of the same people in a venue); but well, I do try...

    So the other week we all decided to go to Steve Aoki's Ready Set Glo with Diplo. I've been to one of his other Ready Set Glo's but this time I came back with a vengeance. I needed to do something more... worthwhile? So well, I got a picture with Aoki himself!! Yay! I guess that'll do it for me anyway.
    Photobucket
    He seems a little bit of a cold person but well, he does make good music or remixes to say the least. Anyway, it was a good night even though it was cramped, hot and crazy at times.

    PhotobucketPhotobucket

    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    Anyway, Chloe promised Kim that we'd have a night out just to experience Singapore nightlife after his two weeks being here and not doing much. We met up slightly early for a Zouk night out so we decided to go to Arab Street and have some shisha to pass the time. Since it was Hari Raya, Arab Street felt really really deserted to the point it was eerily creepy but anyway it turns out that everyone was lurking in a quiet cafe or alleyway enjoying their evening.

    I insisted to everyone there (Chloe, Sarah and Kim) that we must go back to Zouk before midnight which was the designated time Diplo and Steve Aoki were going to play. Of course, I was more excited about the Steve Aoki part but well; in typical Zouk manner, DJs always start late and that's not news.

    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    As to be expected for a DJ of Aoki's calibre, Zouk was packed to the nines! It was pretty much impossible to move and a lot of bumping and jostling was done but with jugs good to go, I think we were pretty much set for the night.

    There was good company and everyone was just enjoying the music and atmosphere. Although sometimes it got a little claustrophobic and seriously hot; everyone was there purely to enjoy good 'old' Aoki music (to say the least). He even gave out free CDs at one point! Imagine getting hit in the head with one of those... ouch!

    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    The one thing that always gets to me is my fringe! I really like it and as much as I love having it down all fringe-y and whatnot; when it gets hot and sweaty, I think that's the first thing that goes. I can't say I'm an altogether glamorous person or put-together person when it comes to partying it down because I really am not. I get into it and I'm totally in the moment and just absorbing everything around me: from the music, to the company and the atmosphere.

    So one thing I gotta work on doing is making it through the night without looking like such a train wreck! I mean, I have tons of fun doing it but the aftermath is just something I don't even want to have to deal with : )
    Nonetheless, it was a really good night with good company and I'm sure Kim will remember it for the times to come. He's gotta do me the same favour next time I'm back in Paris!

    ***

    And as everyone in Singapore and I think around the world knows, it was the second inaugral F1 night race held here! Last year I sort of missed out on all the hullaballoo simply because of my fervent disinterest in all things F1. I know I shouldn't be so closed minded but I did try to like it and I don't! So, in replacement; I'll just embrace the parties instead : )

    So Jerome and I decided that the Fuel Party was probably the one to go to. Plus it was held at the Museum! Honestly, I find that really cool just because I myself am a big museum junkie and it seemed an uncanny place to host a party of that level. Since there were non-stop parties for three nights in a row, I went to the one on Saturday because it just seemed like there was a better line-up...

    PhotobucketPhotobucket

    The night started a bit slower than expected. We got there at 22h30 expecting it to have somewhat started but then the people who man the door told us to come in another hour because the DJs haven't arrived and they were still doing last minute sound checks, etc. So after getting our tickets, we headed off to the pub across the road to have a couple of drinks first.

    I must say however, I really liked what they did to the Museum! I didn't expect such a place to hold a party like this! And seeing Novus like that at night is also something different.
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    The first DJ of the night at the Courtyard was the guy from New Order, Peter Hook. My dad grew up listening to New Order/Joy Division! So did I! I find it somewhat strange to see someone like him DJing but nonetheless, the atmosphere was really good! And that's an understatement. Or maybe it's just because we've had a couple of drinks too many?

    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    The Black Eyed Peas even made a surprise visit to the Fuel Party! I've seen them twice in concert and it was like a free one here since Will.I.Am was the only one supposed to attend. I didn't know he was a DJ as well... considering the fact that the songs he chose to mix were completely out of his normal Hip Hop genre.

    By the end of the night, a bottle of champagne was inevitable. James had joined us from his seats at the actual F1 race and we all partook in the 'celebrations'. Something must've been right to get us to stand up on chairs like that...

    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    PhotobucketPhotobucket
    So the night ended on a good note. We went out for some more music DJed by Alex? Apparently he's actually a Doctor! Yum yum, the next McDreamy perhaps?
    With drinks, champagne, good music and an undeniable atmosphere at a really cool venue; I do think the Fuel Party was pretty competent... too bad I won't be here next time round! As I say, there's always a first and last for everything right?

    Nevertheless, I'm excited to go to the official opening of the JewelFest happening this Friday! All that bling must make some people swoon : ) and others broke.

    Aoki night!

    9.26.2009 || 2:10 AM

    A couple of days ago, Steve Aoki played at Zouk for the umpteenth time. This time, I wasn't going to go without getting a picture with the man himself.

    This is a definite accomplishment! Even though he's actually kind of cold, or maybe just tired. Anyway, it was a night of epic proportions :-)

    F1 soon! Fuel Party tomorrow and LiLo is in town :-) more celeb hunting because now I'm slightly hooked on taking pictures with famous people...
